The End!

Posted by mandybaggot on August 16, 2012 at 2:40 PM

Wow - I've done it! I've finished my latest work in progress (well it was!) Security! Yes, today I typed those immortal words THE END at the end of the manuscript...and then I deleted them because I don't like THE END at the end of books! So, how do I feel? Well, I wept through the entire last scene while I was writing it because this is one of the emotional endings I've ever written and then I thought 'oh no, my characters are gone, I'm done with them, I will never get to write about them again'. It's a heady mix of joy, pain, despair and grief when you finish a book. You're pleased you've achieved what you set out to achieve but then you wonder what you're going to do now. You've lived with those characters for so long, how can you move on? The answer is with a celebratory bottle of wine and a curry. Tomorrow's a new day and I have new characters calling to me - it's a writer's life.

And for those of you who can't wait to get a flavour of what Security is all about - here is a trailer for Strike Back featuring my dream actor for the role of Nathan Regan - Richard Armitage! Enjoy!

Mandy - I'm celebrating and commiserating with you - and I'm also envious that you got to the end, 'cos I'm in the middle bit of my WIP and drowning in words both written and unwritten. You are an inspiration to those of us that believe in a happy ending however and so I'm raising my glass to you tonight, Lady B! xx
